Client profile.

Alexander Stadium is one of Britain’s top athletics stadiums and the largest sport facility of its kind in the UK. The stadium was the home of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well as the athletics and para-athletics competitions.

With a £5 million investment, the stadium will become the home for Birmingham University’s Sport and Exercise courses. The stadium will boast an environmental chamber, biomechanics lab, and physiology labs, to provide the very best setting for their students to thrive.

Project brief.

Document Alexander Stadium at a significant point in its evolution, capturing the scale, architecture and character of the venue as it transitions from its role as a major athletics stadium into a new centre for sport and exercise science education.

Purpose.

The photography was commissioned to create a strong visual record of the stadium and its transformation, supporting marketing and communications while documenting an important stage in the site's development.

Deliverables.

A curated collection of architectural and aerial photography showcasing the stadium's overall scale, sporting facilities, architectural structure and relationship with its wider Birmingham context.

Outcome.

A versatile portfolio asset that captures the evolution of Alexander Stadium and communicates its architectural significance, scale and future role as a major sporting and educational facility.
